Big News - The Art Lounge is on the move!

The Renton Arts Commission's popular monthly Art Lounge series is evolving into a pop-up experience, traveling throughout the community to bring creative connection directly to you!

These events are still the welcoming, hands-on gathering you know and love - designed for creatives and artist-preneurs to explore new techniques, share ideas, and grow their networks - but now we're popping up in new neighborhoods and unique spaces across Renton.

Each Art Lounge features a different artist-led activity, offering participants a chance to create original artworks and meet others in a vibrant, supportive setting. Whether you're a returning artist or a curious first-timer, there's a place for you at the table.

ChoralSounds Northwest returns to Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center for an unforgettable showcase concert. This unique performance shines a spotlight on the power of solo voices and the richness of choral arrangements, all elegantly intertwined with beautiful strings from Northwest Symphony Orchestra. “Pigments of our Imagination” will entertain with a musical kaleidoscope of color with familiar classics, contemporary hits, and gems from Broadway musicals. Get ready for a fun, feel-good night of laughter, storytelling, and musical comedy headlined by Lexis Shardé — a sharp-witted performer whose humor is clever, relatable, and refreshingly honest.
Lexis has been performing for over a decade, blending stand-up, improv, and parody into a high-energy comedy experience that keeps audiences engaged from start to finish. A comedian and filmmaker, she’s appeared on CBS alongside Iliza Shlesinger, trained in improv and sketch comedy at Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles, and continues to make waves across the Pacific Northwest. She’s also the founder of Lexy’s Comedy Club, a pop-up comedy collective soon to open its first brick-and-mortar location in Eugene, Oregon.

All are welcome at THE TABLE.

No sign-up, no cost, just a warm meal and a welcoming space. Come enjoy a nourishing meal while connecting with neighbors and community members.

Are you intimidated by sewing with knit and stretch fabrics? Or maybe you intimidated by making your own pants?

This class if your solution! Join us, as you make your own pair of Hudson pants! These cozy joggers will help you gain the confidence to work with knits in a new way.

We're ready to answer any questions you may have about working with knits, de-mystify the process of construction, and help you achieve pant that's uniquely you.

Skills Learned:

selecting stitch settings for sewing knits
optional seam finishes for knits
sewing an elastic waistband
sewing buttonholes
attaching cuffs (and how to work with ribbing if you choose to)

Class Duration: 3.5 hours

Students Bring: You will prepare your pattern and cut out all of your fabric pieces prior to arriving at class. About a week before class we will email you a video that covers how to prep your material and cut out your pattern and fabric. You will need to bring,

Medium weight knits such as cotton lycra, french terry, ponte, lightweight scuba and sweatshirt knit with a suggested stretch of at least 25%.
2” wide elastic (2 yds) for the waistband,
1/4” wide cording (3 yds) for the drawstring
2” x 1” scrap of fusible interfacing for the drawstring holes

We will supply all the needed tools and sewing machines. You are welcome to bring your own machine if you prefer.

Please note that instruction will be for a sewing machine and not a serger. If you want to sew on your own serger, you should make sure you're confident setting it up and sewing with it - this is not recommended for beginner

Needed Materials: You will need to purchase the Hudson Pant directly From True Bias. You can print the file at home and tape it together, or order an A0 PDF print from us. Knit fabric for your garment. Check out our selection of knits here.

You will leave with: The knowledge and confidence to work with knit fabrics! We'll cover direction of greatest stretch, how to dial in your knit stitch.

Skill Level: Intermediate

You should have a good amount of sewing experience, and have made at least 1 garment on your own before attending class. It's okay if this is your first knit project! Overall you should be comfortable operating and troubleshooting a standard sewing machine, and able to maintain a consistent seam allowance.

Spring Equinox Breathwork for Balance & Renewal

Join Mary for a grounding breathwork journey designed to regulate the nervous system and restore balance as we move into spring. The experience begins with slow, mindful breathing to soften tension, settle the body, and bring awareness inward. From there, participants are guided into slightly more dynamic breathing to explore new edges of awareness in the mind and body, supported by gentle retention holds that invite calm and stillness.
