If you notice multiple police vehicles moving around Renton this afternoon, it’s part of a Renton Police Department training exercise, not an active incident.
In a social media post, RPD said officers are practicing team escort procedures ahead of the FIFA World Cup this summer, when the department will be providing escorts for teams traveling in and through the city. The department shared the notice to prevent confusion as the drills take place across multiple parts of Renton.
No action is needed from residents.
