If you’ve been saving up old bank statements and expired prescriptions for this weekend, hang on to them a little longer. The Renton Police Department’s annual Shred-A-Thon and RX Take Back, scheduled for Saturday, April 25 at Renton Memorial Stadium, has been called off.
The department first announced the cancellation on social media, citing “unforeseen circumstances.” At this week’s public safety meeting, officials shared a bit more context: the holdup involves finalizing this year’s vendor contracts.
The free drive-through event is a spring tradition in Renton, drawing residents each year for secure document shredding, safe medication disposal, and a food drive benefiting the Renton Salvation Army. No rescheduled date has been announced.
