Renton, WA – The City of Renton shared several updates across departments today, including recognition for infrastructure work and community achievements.
The City announced on social media that it has received the 2026 Gold Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) for the Monroe Avenue NE Stormwater Project in the Innovation/Uniqueness category. Stormwater projects play a key role in flood prevention, water quality protection, and long-term environmental resilience.
Renton Parks and Recreation also highlighted local accomplishments, congratulating the Renton Wolves and Renton Roughnecks for qualifying for the Special Olympics State Winter Games in Wenatchee. The department additionally noted that the Renton Urban Forestry Team has reached 18 consecutive years of Tree City USA recognition, a designation that reflects sustained investment in urban canopy management.
In his latest “Mayor in a Minute” video update, Mayor Armondo Pavone highlighted the reopening of Maplewood Park, which now features a new playground, updated fitness equipment, and accessible pathways. Other updates included ongoing preparation for the World Cup — including work connected to Legacy Square and planned summer events — as well as the groundbreaking for the Renton Transit Center.
